India visit to our friends in Guntur and Salem. Oct 2009. Report by Neil Broomhead
Ruth and I went with our C.T.F. friends as part of their team to Guntur and arrived at a time of a great flood disaster. 428 villages were under water and as a team we were thrown into the work of helping these people. The old people’s home at Tippalakatta was in great need. We helped in setting up food camps in the villages, giving out cloths and blankets and getting the engineers to drill new water wells and repair damaged pumps.
Our other work was for Ruth and I to preach the gospel in none flooded villages in other areas and many responded. As part of the team we took a three day ladies conference. We started off with 350 women but by the last day we had 650. We only planned for three hundred but the Lord had other ideas!
Ruth and I left our friends in Gutur as we travelled to Salem in the state of Tamil Nadu. Here we stayed and ministered in two large schools run by our friends Rev David and Esther Kirupakaran. Their welcome and hospitality was greatly appreciated. Here we had the privilege of ministering in both schools and the local village Church. We were also greatly blessed in being the guest speakers at a revival Pastor’s day conference for approximately 100 Pastor’s.
In all Ruth and I saw 163 people respond to the gospel appeal on this trip.

Our team was Susan Taylor, David Smith, Ruth and yours truly. We all ministered in many ways in the Churches and villages. Over the years we have seen our praise festivals in the so-called stadiums grow from twelve hundred to more than twenty thousand as believers come from miles around to praise the Lord and unite as different Churches become one in Christ in praise and worship. W also have many Politician’s including at one meeting the minister of social welfare for the whole A.P. state.
The stadium meetings saw approximately 4000 people in the first night, more than 7000 the second night and our final night saw approximately 18,500. all these people received a clear message of the Gospel in addition to the stadium work we also reached out to Church works in remote places with the good news of Jesus.
Besides the evangelistic work we also took a two day Pastor’s and wives conference for approximately one hundred people. On Sunday 24th we took seven services which are always demanding upon us physically.
In all we saw over a thousand people make decisions for Christ which we praise the Lord For.

Our first work was the big Festival meeting 23, 24 and 25th. We were informed that there was something like eight thousand that first night. More came the first night than last year. I thank the Lord that nearly one thousand stood for the gospel appeal. The second night had even more numbers; I was informed that about eleven to twelve thousand and many more than the first night responded to the gospel message. The last night had approximately twenty thousand people with about two thousand responding. In all the three nights we saw between 4500 and 5000 souls asking Jesus to be their personal saviour.
On the Sunday we took five meetings ending late at night. Monday and Tuesday we had the Pastor’s conferences. In the evening on Monday we took two meetings. Tuesday after the second day of the conference after ministering all day we ministered in one more church meeting. The next day being Wednesday we set off to a different region which took nineteen hours to get there!
The Pastor of our second base booked us into a hotel with air conditioning which helped me to sleep and revived my strength. Upon arrival we discovered what was supposed to be a one day Pastor’s conference had grown to be a two day event. This proved to be a great blessing as was our first conference. We made a lot of new friends amongst Pastor’s and their Church people, all in love asked us to return. We ministered in the Church as well as taking a schools morning service for 80 children. Finally we went with the Pastor and His wife to the major city from which we flew home.
One of our main Pastors who we work with kindly sent us wonderful testimonies coming from our visit of more and more people now going to the Churches. We have news of a deaf person being healed in our meetings as well as other great testimonies. We praise God for those Baptised in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues for the first time. Each year God has blessed us in helping people baptised in the Holy Spirit. Again the Lord blessed us with angelic help on the third night of the festival meeting.
